The Power of Trapping: Protecting and Preserving Aotearoa's Wildlife
Southern Rewilding specialises in comprehensive predator control operations. We have been instrumental in protecting the native plant and animal species in Arthur's Pass National Park for the past three years, as the team depended upon to protect the Kākāriki Karaka, New Zealand’s rarest parakeet, as part of the Orange Fronted Kakariki (OFK) initiative.
Predator Control and Monitoring Services
Our team is proficient in the establishment and upkeep of trap lines and bait stations, whether it involves maintaining existing ones or setting up new ones. We possess the necessary equipment and expertise to establish new lines, ensure trap functionality, collect data, and provide ongoing maintenance for designated areas.
Our comprehensive range of services includes:
Installation and meticulous upkeep of traps designed for mustelids and rodents.
Installation and regular maintenance of bait stations, which often proves to be the most effective approach for reducing possum populations.
Data collection initiatives, utilising tracking tunnels and chew cards, to effectively identify areas affected by pest infestations. Based on our findings, we implement suitable control strategies while maintaining detailed records of all captured specimens.
